Despite multiple legal opinions stating they had no authority to do so, Wisconsin Senate Republicans went forward with the confirmation hearing of Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe this week.

“What’s that mean, the world of crazy?” Sen. Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) asked of a Rock County clerk who spoke about how the spread of election conspiracism could affect the 2024 elections.

A parade of Wisconsin’s most prominent 2020 election deniers testified at the hearing, sharing unfounded conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election for more than four hours. The 2020 election in Wisconsin was fair and accurate. Joe Biden’s win in the state has been affirmed by multiple reviews, recounts, investigations and lawsuits, yet that has not stopped conspiracies from taking hold in the state.
